Five card draw is one of the oldest forms of poker played and it’s still one of the more popular forms although not the most popular. It’s the easiest poker game to learn how to play because it’s very self explanatory and there aren’t many decisions you need to make like in other games. The goal of the game is to make the best five card poker hand like in most poker games so if you don’t know the hand rankings you better learn them so you have an idea what is good and what isn’t. The game is played with a full fifty-two card deck and there are no wild cards in the deck when you play five card draw.
At the start of a new hand the two players sitting to the left of the dealer button need to put in two forced bets known as blinds. Once the two players have put in the small blind and the big blind then the dealer will deal every player five cards face down. Starting with the player to the left of the big blind every player will need to decide whether to call, raise or fold to the big blind. Once this is done the player who is sitting to the left of the big blind needs to act first and decide whether or not they want to discard any cards.
On the discard you can get rid of 0-5 cards depending on how bad your hand is, but you need to remember that other players can see how many cards you’re drawing. You also shouldn’t be playing the hand if you’re planning on discarding all five cards so typically you should only be discarding 1-3 cards a hand.
After the discard there is one more round of betting for every pokerstars download player left in the hand. Starting with the pokerstars player to the left of the big blind again players will need to decide whether or not to make a bet or not. If a player does bet then the remaining players will need to decide if they want to call the bet, raise the bet or fold there cards.
After this round of betting the hand will go to the showdown if there are still two or more players left in the hand. The showdown is when the players left in the pot flip over there five cards to see who has the best five card poker hand. If you have the best hand then you’ll be sent the chips from the pot and then the entire process repeats itself again for the next hand.
With only two betting rounds and one discard round it’s really simple to play this game and you don’t need to know much strategy. The best thing to learn is what starting hands to play because this will help you limit the amount of hands you try chasing. You don’t want to chase a lot of draws in five card draw because you’ll lose too many chips chasing. Wait until you have made hands and then play them strongly so you can try and win the most off your opponents.
